The video and lesson plan takes students through the history, significance and relevance of Faisal Mosque. Faisal Mosque is an incredibly beautiful landmark in Islamabad. Construction of the mosque began in 1976 with a $120 million grant from Saudi King Faisal bin Abdul-Aziz, who the mosque is named after. The landmark is the work of Turkish architect named Vedat Dalokay. Dalokay won the Aga Khan Award for Architecture for the project. The mosque’s architecture is modern and unique, built without the traditional domes and arches of mosques around the world.
