The video and lesson plan takes students through the history, significance and relevance of the Mohatta Palace. The Mohatta Palace was built by Shivratan Chandraratan Mohatta as his summer home in 1927. He was a Hindu businessman from the Marwar region, the region known in India today as Rajasthan. He enjoyed this building for only two decades before independence, after which he left Karachi for India. He built the Palace in the tradition of stone palaces in Rajasthan, using pink Jodhpur stone in combination with the local yellow stone from Gizri. The lesson plan has grammar and comprehension activities to scaffold students’ reading, writing and listening skills.
