5 Ways to Beat the Heat!

It’s hot! So hot, you could fry an egg on the open road. But you know what? It’s hot for everyone and all God’s creatures, so when you think of ways to cool yourself down, here are somethings you can do to help everyone beat the heat!

Water Works!

With temperatures closing in to the high 30s and mid-40’s, it is extremely important to keep hydrated. Be sure and drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water.

Water the Furriends

Be sure and keep water out in containers for the birds, cats and other animals who are always looking for fresh water as they travel to their destinations. In case you have pets at home, make sure their living area is clean and that you at least sponge them with water. In case you are unsure about how your pet will react to water, please consult a vet. This is a great way to teach kids the responsibility of serving loving animals, and also make them understand the value of water. Remember: water is a precious resource, so use it smartly.

Use Less Electricity

Not only do fewer lights help keep inside temperatures down, it also helps to better manage and monitor your electricity usage. Bulbs get hot and generate more heat, which make rooms hotter than they are. Also, try using low watt energy savers or even better, LED lights which generate even lesser heat. Every electrical device uses power, which means they ’emit’ heat. Plan your day smarter so you can do with more daylight and consume less electricity.

Eat More Fruits

A lot of fruits, especially the seasonal ones, have a lot of water in them. Watermelon or even just melons, really help to make you feel cooler. Whatever fruit you choose, chill it in the fridge for a little while before eating. Smoothies are also a great way to drink milk, water and fruits, all in one, big, gigantic mug! Yum!

Bathe Frequently

Quick showers really help to cool you off. Don’t spend a luxurious hour in the bathroom, but take the quick showers. This also helps to control the smell of sweat and other body odour. Wearing fresh clothes will also help you feel better.

And by the way, planting trees is a great way to have shade in the long-run and a wonderful place to sit under with a picnic basket for the whole family to enjoy! It takes years for a tree to grow and provide shade, but it’s never too late for you to start!
